This quite an old design but I thought it deserved an airing.
Its so comfy and chunky without being really heavy.
This is a close up of one of my weed inspired pieces, I did Ivy and Bindweed!!!
Now I plan to use the excuse that the kids are around on Easter Hols to play catch up and sort stuff that isn’t necessarily work, although there’s plenty of work stuff to do too!!!
Lots of new photos of my work featured on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.53845546563.67541.53844856563&type=1&ref=notif¬if_t=like
I love sharing pictures of new pieces. Once they are sold that is the only record I have of them. Once they’ve gone they have gone.
I only make one of each design. If some one asks for a repeat design I find it really difficult to replicate. It will never be exactly the same especially if it is a roller textured design. This is a great selling point, truely unique pieces!!
I snapped this at the end of my photo session today, just love it!!
Leaves on a frosty morning………
A beautiful Garnet or a fragile flower
Or a complicated piece of lace.
A few of the things that are sources of inspiration for me when making my jewellery
Tuesday’s every other week are all about teaching. I teach a three hour class every Tuesday morning, term time and I teach a three hour class on a Tuesday evening fortnightly.
I am blessed with a loyal following of students, who I really enjoy teaching. Without sounding cheesy, I do love enabling someone to design and make a piece of jewellery from scratch. Seeing an idea come into fruition is great.
I don’t always work from a design. I do find that sometimes a design will just happen. Other times the techniques lead the way. I often choose a leaf or a flower which I then roll through the steel rolling mills to imprint onto the silver. It’s magical. Sometimes it doesn’t work, that’s the chance you take, but when it does work its amazing. Very hard to repeat though.
The sun has been shining in sunny Susssex, it really feels like Spring might be just about here! I’m hoping that by Easter my new workshop space will be complete but until then I am spending as much time clearing up after the builders as I am at the bench.
Welcome to my new blog. My Life as a jewellery maker/designer. I hope to give you a glimpse at what being a ‘creative sort’ is like. The ups and downs and the general hard slog to earn money in the way I have chosen!!!
